Egan Reid are proud to announce the acquisition of the goodwill and customer base of Burslem Stationery Supplies following owners David and Karen Armstrong’s retirement in a deal that sees the leading independent dealer further strengthen its position in the North West.

Burslem Stationery Supplies has a strong and loyal client base in and around Alsager, Cheshire, developed over the past 40 years by David and Karen Armstrong.

Andrew and Martin Reid, Egan Reid’s joint managing directors and owners, commented:

“This is Egan Reid’s second acquisition this year, the 6th in the last 7 years. These are challenging times for the office supplies trade, even more so for the smaller independent dealers who may not be able to offer the complete range of products and services we do, and we are always looking for opportunities to grow through further acquisitions.”

It’s finally here, we’re reached December. It’s time to step fully into the Christmas spirit, whether your workplace is fighting over who gets to open the advent calendar today or if you’re already sick of hearing Slade (Could you ever get sick of that?) we can all agree that once December 1st hits – we’re fully into peak Crimbo. But, while Christmas lists are being made (and checked twice) in your personal life, have you considered your customers?

Lucky for you, we’re here to make your Christmas season more pleasant. Whether you’re looking to express gratitude to your employees and customers or wanting to sustain awareness of your brand throughout the festive season – we’re going to show you the top ways print can be used this Christmas.

Ice Scrapers

The secret to successful promotional print is usefulness. While visions of plush toys and mugs come to mind, seasonal products are perfect for keeping your message relevant. Dishing out useful yet unusual products help to get you noticed and lengthens customer’s interest (win win!).
Products such as ice scrapers are the perfect gift paired with direct mail or giveaways (especially within the motor or insurance industries). Useful promotional products evoke positive feelings towards your business. So, while the trudge of de-icing your car on those dark winter mornings isn’t fun – you get to make it that little bit easier for your customers, and your logo makes sure that they remember.

Thermo-Mugs

Americano? Latte? Maybe even a hot chocolate? Cold mornings mean you’re more likely to be persuaded to visit a coffee shop on your commute. As the use of plastic continues to dominate the headlines, offering your customers an alternative to disposable coffee cups has the added benefit of broadcasting your company’s eco-friendly ethos. Thermo-mugs can be used every day and broadcast your logo in the process. With many high street coffee chains offering incentives for customers wanting to use their own mugs, thermo-mugs can also be a nice little perk for on the road sales teams.

Money Boxes

Wanting to save a little more money next year? A study with the Telegraph shows that money saving is the 3rd most popular new year’s resolution. In the name of usefulness, money boxes are the perfect gift going into 2019. With several different shapes and the ability to add a message or logo, this option is personable and makes sure your gift is being used all year round.
From personal home use to the office change bank, placing your logo onto an item with a constant presence in people’s lives helps to organically increase your brand recognition over time.

Whether it’s Christmas, a birthday, a wedding celebration, (or any other excuse!) everyone loves opening a present. With the festive season approaching it’s important to know that gift giving should also be just as fulfilling, but we know all too well how easy it is to become stressed when things don’t go to plan. But before you call it a wrap, never fear! With our tips and tricks, gift wrapping will be a breeze and a fun festive activity.

The right tools

The first step is to ensure you have the right tools for the job. Let’s start with the basics: you’ll need a sharp pair of scissors, some Sellotape, and some wrapping paper. But where and how are you sending it? You may also need an envelope and to consider how you package your item; our range of padded mailers will ensure nothing gets damaged in sleigh transit this year. Next, look at your workspace: is it cluttered and disorderly, or tidy and systematic? For the best result, you should aim for the latter and make sure your tools are easily accessible. If you’re using ribbon you might want to try curling it. For this, it would be useful having an extra pair of scissors that are dull as this makes the process easier.

Finally, never be afraid to add too many embellishments! When you’ve chosen a brilliant gift, the perfect paper, and wrapped it beautifully using our tips, you’ll want to add the cherry on top and decorate the outside of the package. Whether it’s a bow, tinsel, or a bough of holly, allow yourself to get creative and have fun.

The next level

Are you ready to take your wrapping to the next level? Go beyond the basics and use double-sided tape and a ruler when cutting and sticking your paper for a seamless finish that’s guaranteed to impress. For the very best in stationery supplies, check out our range today. Unusual shapes? Embrace them! If you’re really struggling to wrap something, try using a gift bag or an appropriate box and then wrap that. This makes most awkward objects easy to wrap and saves you any trouble, but what if it’s too big for a gift bag? When a gift bag or box isn’t an option, it’s still not time to panic; it’s time to get creative! Other props such as tinsel or baubles can also be used to disguise your gift, or you could simply embellish the item with decorations instead; the possibilities are endless!

We hope that with these tips you’ll soon be on your way to creating a masterpiece, whatever the occasion. It’s important to not become stressed and ruin the fun at Christmas. That’s why you can get all your wrapping essentials from us this year. We’re your one-stop shop: there’s no need to rush around searching for the best prices, we’ve got you covered. Are you up to date with your office germ hotspots?

Studies have shown that a messy workplace can have various negative effects on the mental and physical wellbeing of employees. As well as looking unprofessional, a messy workstation is the breeding site for various germs and can become a graveyard for productivity. Studies have shown that a messy workplace can have various negative effects on the mental and physical wellbeing of employees. As well as looking unprofessional, a messy workstation is the breeding site for various germs and can become a graveyard for productivity. In fact, statistics show that sick days alone cost the UK economy over £77.5 billion a year!

Much of this could be saved if all workplaces were clean and germ-free, and it is easier to do your bit than you think. By tackling the office germ hot spots, you can be sure to stay productive all year long. Read on to learn how to banish those sniffles quickly and efficiently…

Dirty Desks

Some of us work at them every day, and with the rise of hot desks in addition to sharing office equipment, you are at a high risk of being infected by other people’s germs!

  • Regularly clean your desk with specialised products.
  • If eating at your desk, make sure to wash your hands before and after.
  • Have a pack of antibacterial wipes handy to banish cold and flu viruses from shared objects, such as the phone and pens.

Keyboard and Mouse

Studies show that more than 3,000 micro-organisms can be found per square inch on keyboards, and over 1,600 bacteria per square inch on a computer mouse!

  • Eating lunch at your desk? Move your keyboard away to remove the risk of crumbs (and clean up after yourself!).
  • Clean your keyboard and mouse weekly.

Bacteria-filled mug

Hands up if you’re guilty of leaving a used mug on your desk overnight? Yep, us too. Office mugs can look a bit worse for wear quickly, and a simple rinse may not be enough to remove a colleague’s germs.

  • Using your own mug consistently reduces the risks of spreading germs and viruses.
  • Make sure to wash up your own mug every evening.

Whether it’s simply keeping the office toilets clean, maintaining food hygiene standards, or dealing in specialist sectors such as housekeeping or healthcare, we can help you purchase smarter.

You are guaranteed superior value over individual product ordering with Egan Reid. If you are still ordering individual janitorial products, make your £ go further by ordering our 5L containers of any janitorial product, and you can get an impressive 166 trigger spray bottles (or 44 buckets).
