Pure Innovations is a charity supporting people with disabilities and disadvantaged groups to get into work and access community and leisure activities. Their latest project involved turning an empty space in what had been an office building in Stockport town centre into a working café with on-site bakery.
Egan Reid was chosen to provide a comprehensive space planning and fit-out service, offering the client long term cost saving solutions such as replacing the existing lighting with energy-efficient LED light fittings. The extensive works carried out included totally rewiring the building, decorating internally and externally, removing the old kitchen and fitting a new one, improving accessibility throughout the building – in particular doorways and toilet facilities – as well as fitting wipeable ceiling tiles, a serving counter, air conditioning and a security alarm, plus installing a feature glass screen which gives the café’s customers a ‘behind the scene’ view of the kitchen.
The result is a welcoming, practical and accessible space, finished to the client’s expectations and there for the local community to enjoy. Egan Reid have shown their appreciation of Pure’s work and role in the community by donating a life-saving defibrillator.
From the start of the process, our Egan Reid project manager used his experience and knowledge to help guide us on what we could achieve, always giving us options to work with. He and the skilled contractors used on this project have helped us achieve our dream of having a café with on-site bakery which will benefit the clients who access our service as well as the local Stockport community.Support & Catering Manager
