Humberside Airport
When Humberside Airport - an international airport located in North Lincolnshire - decided to refurbish their dull and dated departure lounge and attract new business users, they wanted to move away from the standard rows of seating we are used to see when travelling abroad and create a space that was inviting and also multi-functional.
Not only was the space in need of new furnishings, but the facilities also needed an update. This included the bar and kitchen services as well as the public toilets and gate desks. As the majority of passengers here tend to travel for business purposes, the airport wanted to make this an environment suitable for remote working and that also offered some level of privacy. In order to achieve this, we chose ‘Den’ working units which would allow customers to connect their devices and continue working out of the eye of others in the lounge. In addition to this, we located the more bar and bistro type seating away from these areas to divert noise.
We scheduled our work around flight times so the space remained open throughout the seven week duration of the project – sectioning off parts of the lounge and working throughout the nights.

With the help of our team of joiners, designers, flooring fitters, decorators, project managers and installers, we were able to produce a welcoming area that now fits in with the airport’s branding. The space includes large areas of soft seating, bistro seating, high level seating, power units and booths with the aim of reaching out to all types of passengers that may pass through the airport.
